Information Heli-Skiing/ boarding

A typical Heli-Skiing Day

You have to be at the Heli-Plex no later than 9:00 am. If you use powder skies, please have your rental form completed with weight and skiing ability, placed inside one of your ski boots. Extra clothing can be left at the Heli-Plex. You will be allocated to a guide and a group of 10 or 11 other skiers/boarder. The guides will instruct you in use of an avalanche transceiver and safety around the helicopter. At about 10:30 am the first group will fly out.

Weather and Snow Conditions

Helicopter Skiing is totally weather dependent. The weather determines where we ski or whether we ski at all. It also effects snow conditions. Heli-Skiing on open slopes and glaciers is only possible when the weather is clear.

These slopes are quite high and exposed and therefore good weather alone does not guarantee good skiing conditions. Open slopes can be windblown and later in the season can also develop a breakable sun crust on southern exposures. At times when there is a lot of new snow, even though the weather may not be clear we can find very good skiing below the tree line.

Heli-skiing is not always perfect, it is mountain skiing in a totally uncontrolled environment. The aim is to give you the best skiing available every day but since we do not control the weather, the best skiing some days may be very tough and/or in the trees.

Waiver

In order for your booking to be accepted by R.K. Heli-Ski, Panorama a “Legal Waiver Form” must be completed prior to skiing.
